The Dr. Herbert & Nicole Wertheim Asian River Life Exhibit

The Dr. Herbert & Nicole Wertheim Asian River Life exhibit invites the visitor to walk among cooling waterfalls, tropical mists and the exotic sounds of wild Asia to encounter the small-clawed river otters, primitive muntjac deer, clouded leopards, and Asian water monitors.

This faithful recreation of a Southeast Asian riverbank community is part of a 25,000 square foot experiential exhibit that envelops zoo patrons in an exotic atmosphere. Environmental replication—highlighted by lush landscape, waterfalls, mist, and authentic atmospheric sounds recorded in the forests of Asia—is delicately blended with architectural elements to create an adventurous, educational, and entertaining setting for guests. Zoologically-approved habitats for six rare and endangered species are integrated into the exhibit which includes patron areas, habitats, night houses, and service/maintenance facilities.
